IDA - CITY OF DURHAM
The IDA is a matched savings program designed by the City of Durham to assist prospective homebuyers buy their new home. It consists of a 3-1 match, a 4-1 match and a 5-1 match. The prospective homebuyer will deposit a total of $1500.00 into an approved credit union. Your counselor will be able to tell you if you qualify for the program and also inform you as to what all of the guidelines are. It is a GREAT way to get your credit straight and save money.
The "City 2nd" program
You may also get a City 2nd loan at a 2% interest rate that will consist of $20,000.00 to help with the purchase of a new home. This money can be added to the IDA. Your counselor will give you full details on how this would work.
Elizabeth and Jazmine Otero are one of our recent success stories. Elizabeth said she was very happy with the IDA program and that it is a wonderful program and would recommend it to everyone. She said the classes she took with Durham Regional Community Development Group were also good because she and her daughter, Jazmine, learned how to fix their credit, save money through IDA, buy a house and keep moving forward.
